Crain Communications Inc. Project Manager (TEMP) in Detroit, Michigan
Crain Communications is seeking a temporary Project Manager to plan, execute and finalize programs, projects and initiatives. The incumbent should be able to identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change. This requires that they strictly manage their time as well as provide direction and management in order lead diverse project teams to quick decisions. This individual will be tasked with satisfying technical and customer requirements while meeting budget and timeframe commitments and should possess the ability conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
The temprorary Project Manager role receives minimal direct guidance and supervision, and may require supervision of other employees. The individual in this role should be able to cultivate strong relationships with internal customer base, vendors, and other project team members while motivating the team to work together in the most effective manner.
Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business strategy in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
Develop full-scale project plans and associated communication documents
Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders
Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path
Plan, schedule and track project milestones and deliverables using appropriate tools
Develop and deliver status reports, proposals, scope documentation and presentations
Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential risk, and devise contingency plans
Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle
Create, maintain and grow strategic relationships with internal stakeholders and vendors
Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and vendors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
Provide project management for large scale corporate level transformation projects
Formulate and present solutions and ideas for change to senior management with little direction
Occasional travel may be required
Other duties as assigned
BS or BA degree in computer science, publishing, business administration or related field, or equivalent experience
3+ years Project Management experience
Experience managing projects for Media/Publishing companies
Experience managing multiple complex corporate level projects
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
Experience presenting proposals and project status to executive management
Strong knowledge of Smartsheet or similar project tracking and planning tool
Able to resolve project related issues independently
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Very strong communication skills
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Strong time management skills
Ability to travel as needed
Experience in Publishing, Marketing or Online Strategy is preferred
Proficient in development tools, such as Confluence, Jira
PMP Certification is recommended
