Job Description Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity for a Painter at our Marinette, Wisconsin location. POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for painting and coating of product for the construction of ships for the delivery to both commercial and military customers. He/she must attain quality schedule and cost objectives, review and understand department, organization and company goals and objectives and support execution plans that ensure positive, predictable results. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties satisfactorily and understand all the safety requirements of operating the equipment listed below. Other duties may be assigned. Capable of applying paint by brush and roller to a uniform finish and working the coatings into all areas where required. Operates a Bob Cat. Take and record environmentals. Operates a pressure washer. Uses hand and power tools to prepare welds, burn backs, etc. for paint. Operates JIB Monorail building cranes, including standard hand signals and safe working load of slings. Rigs loads safely for setting or moving equipment without damage by using a pallet jack, equipment lift, spreader bar lift and sling lift. Sets up, adjusts, troubleshoots and operates grit blast equipment, vacuum blasters, and airless paint spray equipment. Uses grit/shot blast surface comparators. Will need to set up a tank or space with proper lighting and cross ventilation. Operation of a man lift safely. Set up, adjust and troubleshoot the Hurricane and HI-Vac vacuums, along with pressure washers, conventional spray equipment and dual component airless paint equipment. Applies nonskid in a uniform pattern meeting application, technical, and millage requirements. Capable of spraying uniform thickness without sags, runs or overspray. Understands coatings, their application over other paints and surfaces, cure time, temperature/humidity and film thickness requirements. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Must be 18 years of age or older.Must be a U.S. person.Must be able to work at heights.Must be able to work in confined and enclosed spaces.Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions.Must be available to work 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift, as required.Must be able to lift 50lbs.Must be physically able to wear a respirator.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.Painter certifications of C1, CAS, C7, C12, C14, NBPI or NACE desired.Minimum of 1 to 2 years' experience in the industrial painting fields; this includes abrasive blasting and spray-painting with either conventional or airless equipment desired.Licensed and trained to operate JIB Monorail building cranes, including standard hand signals and safe working load of slings desired.Understands the procedures of mixing paints desired.SKILLS: The ideal candidate is able to trouble shoot abrasive blast and paint equipment.Must be able to use hand and power tools to prepare welds, burn backs, etc. for paint.Must have good hand-eye coordination.Must have good climbing, bending and reaching skills.Able to read and understand paint drawings and sketches.Must be able to spray with
