ROLE SUMMARY

An Engineering Leadership position within the Kalamazoo site Project Engineering department to lead colleagues and contractors in the Engineering Services systems required for efficient, effective, and compliant delivery of a large, dynamic portfolio of capital projects.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead site Capital Planning, Master Planning, and Capital Portfolio management. The Kalamazoo site has a large, dynamic and complex capital project portfolio. This role will be active in analyzing the capital portfolio for annual and long term financial tracking, project prioritization, and leading Site Master planning. This will require coordinating with various site stakeholders to develop and implement tools and techniques to drive impactful decision making on investments for the site. It will also be responsible for communicating to site and above site leadership the annual and long term capital plan for the site.

  • Lead a team of Verification project managers responsible for capital project change control on the entire capital portfolio to assure accurate and compliant project execution as it relates to change control in an active Pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role also provides leadership to approximately 40 contracted resources who operate under the direction of the colleague verification project managers.

  • Provide leadership for a team of colleagues responsible for capital project cost controls, entailing project financial tracking, purchase order and invoice management, project financial closeout and collaborating with site procurement and finance functions related to Capital projects.

  • Act as site sponsor and leader to Capital Project contracted engineering services including: Verification, Architectural and Engineering consultants, Engineering Document Management (CAD) team. Role will be responsible for oversite, contracted company leadership liaison, contract management, and related performance/procurement activities for each of these contracted systems. The Kalamazoo site has approximately 225 contractors on-site who will fall under this leadership function.

  • Provide leadership to the site Engineering Specifications/Standards team and discipline leads to develop, maintain, and apply the site engineering standards to capital projects.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Engineering Degree (BS or MS), from an Accredited Institution

Experience:

  • Minimum 12 years of related experience in Capital Project management, Engineering Consulting, or Maintenance Engineering in a chemical processing and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

Other Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with contract service partners

  • Detailed understanding of long-term service contract management

  • Experience with developing and documenting engineering and business processes

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, meeting deadlines, and working well under pressure

  • Ability to develop solutions to complex problems which require the use of ingenuity, innovation, and creativity

  • Skilled at objectively evaluating competing solutions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • Engineering Cost Controls and Capital Portfolio Management.

  • Experience with contracted services management

  • Experienced in a pharmaceutical, FDA-regulated manufacturing environment

Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License

  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to perform complex data analysis and develop/manage detailed programs.

  • Ability to present plans and status updates to leadership and a broad range of stakeholders across the organization.
