IPS – Integrated Project Services, Inc. Project Controls Manager (Cost & Scheduling) in Kalamazoo, Michigan
IPS hiring! We are looking for a talented Project Services Manager to join our industry leading Project Delivery and Construction team at our client location located Kalamazoo, MI.
The Project Services Manager is accountable to develop, progress and forecast all phases of the project costs as well as all phases of the project schedule/plan using the most current industry practices and software. This position provides overall leadership for cost, schedule, planning functions on multiple projects. Integrate all project functions engineering, procurement, schedule, cost, technical & construction disciplines for seamless reporting to insure effective Capital Project Delivery.
KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Accountable for all project budget, invoicing, cost forecasting as well as Plans & Schedules for the entire engineering, procurement, construction and qualification (EPCQ) life cycle.
Provide technical leadership and oversight for all cost, schedule, planning, risk control/reporting project functions.
Supervise and motivate Senior Controllers (cost & schedule) as well as more junior department/project personnel.
Work closely with clients and project teams to calibrate processes to meet owner’s requirements.
As a member of project leadership team develop and implement project controls strategy and integrate into Project Execution Plan.
Lead in a highly collaborative and dynamic project environment.
Continually refresh on industry best practices and integrate with current processes.
Present and educate personnel/teams/organization on project control’s practices and principals.
Lead efforts with estimating, procurement and project management on project scope coordination, work package definition, contract development and bid analysis.
Facilitate project constructability, value engineering as well as alignment of cost & schedule data.
SME on contractor SOVs, earned value, and overall progress measurement and reporting.
Oversite of integrated cost reporting platform for detailed cost reports, including budgets, changes, commits (POs), spends, anticipated costs and forecast.
Oversite of project scheduling platform as well as Pull/Phase/Takt/Interactive planning sessions as required to develop, refine and progress project plans.
Architect effective visualization, graphics & outputs for team communication.
Work closely with accounting, finance and legal functions on project needs and organizational initiatives.
At project completion, develop and record the project’s historical cost information and “lessons learned”.
Lead workgroup efforts to improve company processes, systems and intellectual infrastructure to promote organizational learning and continuous improvement.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS /WORK EXPERIENCE
BS degree in engineering or related technical field, construction management or applicable experience.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a project management or controls professional on capital projects.
Demonstrated knowledge of engineering, procurement, construction and qualification (EPCQ) processes in the Pharma/Biotech Industry.
Understanding of engineering, construction methodologies and technical documentation.
Demonstrated expertise in Project Services & Cost Engineering concepts; project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling & closeout as well as billing/invoicing, estimating, forecasting, and variance reporting as well as modern planning and scheduling principles, methodologies, techniques and tools including CPM, Last Planner, 4D, etc.
Strong analytical and computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in integrated construction management/cost reporting PPM platforms (Procore). Experience with data management tools (MS Excel, MS Access, Power BI etc.) as well as financial ERP systems.
Knowledge of Primavera P6 Planner, Microsoft Project, vPlanner, BIM 360 and other visual & collaborative planning tools.
Excellent collaboration, communication and organizational skills are required with the ability to prioritize and manage large amounts of information to effectively meet deadlines.
PMI, AACEI or other industry certifications.

Experience working in both a Home Office and Field environment.
Up to 50% travel required to both project and regional office locations
