Our office is growing, and we offer the unique opportunity for an ambitious Traffic and Safety Engineer to gain great experience, take on challenging responsibilities and develop as a leader. Your contributions will help impact our continued growth in the Michigan and regional markets. Some responsibilities include;

•Supporting several new and ongoing Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and other local agency design projects as well as national roadway and transit projects.

•Performing traffic analyses and forecasting on current transportation projects including for urban streets, transit systems, and highway projects.

•Complete roadway traffic analyses using VISSIM, SYNCHRO, HCS and other travel demand modeling/simulation packages.

•Using results from traffic and transit modeling to recommend roadway and intersection configurations, signal timing, and service needs.

•Evaluating and designing work zone mobility solutions.

•Performing crash analysis and safety reviews.

•Performing Road Safety Audits.

•Complete traffic and safety analyses technical and planning study documentation.

•Working with MicroStation to prepare design and construction plans.

•Integrating technology and ITS solutions including interconnects and signal design.

•Mentoring and helping to develop entry-level employees.

•Managing moderate to complex project tasks and learning the CDM Smith management system.

•Developing external client interaction and marketing skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

•B.S. in Civil Engineering or related degree. And E.I.T. or the ability to obtain it within 18 months.

•5+ years of experience in transportation engineering, planning, and design.

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

•Proficiency in VISSIM, SYNCHRO, and/or HCS and other travel demand modeling/simulation packages, and Microsoft programs.

•Proficiency in Highway Safety Manual.

•Training in NHI Course 380069, Road Safety Audits/Assessments

•Strong writing and report development skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Registration as a Professional Engineer. And registration in the State of Michigan or the ability to obtain Michigan registration within 12 months.
