sectionfont class="bold" Job Description /fontarticleOverviewbrbrspanWe are currently seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to work in the Michigan region, ideally in or around the greater Grand Rapids or Lansing area, to assist in the determination of origin, cause and extent of structural failures, roof damage, water intrusions, construction defects and other failures to join our team. Shall also consider part-time candidates with flexible work schedules. /span brResponsibilitiesbrbrspanDuties in this key position involve the investigation and analysis of residential, commercial, and industrial properties for the purpose of resolving claims and legal disputes. Assignments may include foundation settlement investigations, structural assessments, storm related damages, site evaluations and vibration analysis including preparing oral and written reports that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation. In some cases, you may also provide opinions and expert testimony. Other duties include gathering photographic evidence, conducting investigations to document onsite conditions and oversight of field-testing./span brQualificationsbrbrulli tabindex="0"spanB.S. Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering degree or higher,/span/lili tabindex="0"spanP.E. required,/span/lili tabindex="0"span4-10 yrs. of experience,/span/lili tabindex="0"spanProject Management and/or Field Investigation desired./span/lili tabindex="0"spanMust have high level of analytical skills. Work requires continual attention to detail with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to interact and communicate with clients at all levels (e.g. internal and external)./span/lili tabindex="0"spanMust have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications including but not limited to, Microsoft Office Applications and computer assisted engineering and design software./span/lili tabindex="0"spanAbility to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical reports or journals as well as on occasion financial reports and legal documents./span/lili tabindex="0"spanCapable of effectively presenting information to clients, insureds, public groups and/or boards of directors./span/lili tabindex="0"spanEmployee is frequently required to stand, walk on slope roofs, sit, climb ladders, bend, climb inside attics and crawl under structures and tunnels, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to job sites. Employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
