Golder is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Lansing, Michigan office. In this role you will have the opportunity to perform geotechnical and geologic evaluations and calculations, write technical documents, conduct subsurface investigations, and provide field monitoring, testing, and sampling for a variety of projects in the power and solid waste industries. Assignments may include travel to remote locations and outside work in various climates.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

• Engage in solid waste design, remediation design and analyses.

• Prepare engineering designs and/or design recommendations that meet client and permitting needs.

• Prepare workplans, evaluations and reports for clients. Interact with clients, subcontractors, and regulators.

• Be able to lead small to medium sized projects or serve as a task administrator on larger projects.

• Perform engineering calculations, prepare and review construction drawings, interpret laboratory test results, perform complex engineering analyses.

• Develop site specific Health and Safety plans that meet policies and protocols.

• Oversee field investigation work, including coordinating and organizing field teams, interpreting field data, and writing reports with the results.

• Prepare project proposals, track budget and schedule for project and perform project/task administration.

• Develop recommendations for final designs with senior review.

• Ability to work with a team or with minimal supervision, and with contractors and cross-discipline in-house designers.

• Assist with writing technical reports, design memoranda, field reports, cost estimating, specifications, and permit documents with senior technical advice and review.

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Geological Engineering

• Minimum of 3 years’ of relevant experience

• At least 3 years’ experience in designing using AutoCAD and Civil3D

• At least 3 years’ experience in preparing construction bid packages, landfill permits and landfill CQA

• At least 3 years’ experience in engineering calculation and analysis

• At least 2 years’ experience in landfill gas CQA, gas emissions sampling and landfill gas design

• At least one year experience in supporting environmental groundwater and soil remediation projects

• At least two years’ experience in preparing proposals, change orders, subcontractor work orders, and cost estimates

• At least two years’ experience in HydroCAD (or other storm water design package), SLIDE (or other slope stability design package), Settle 3D (or similar), ArcGIS and/or GeoStudio/Slope W

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) License or ability to obtain within two years

• Ability to travel up to 30%
