Responsible for the development of all cost issues related to Seating programs. Interacts with Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing facilities, Engineering, Program Management and Account Management to establish quote responses to customer requests. Manages and trains a team of Cost Estimators who estimate component costs, develop cost impact statements, improve cost efficiencies, and report program financials.
Analyzes all quote packages and develops costing on all components contained within the package. Consults closely with the quote team, plant, engineering and purchasing personnel to establish required cost data.
Verifies accuracy and finalizes quote packages. Presents the information to senior management for approval and prepares the quote capital budget analysis.
Supports and justifies cost/pricing structure to the customer as required with the coordination of the Account Manager.
Provides Purchasing with Target Cost Goals, drawings, and material specifications as needed.
Provides expert oversight and serves as a liaison between sales, cost estimating and the manufacturing facilities. Provides support and assists in managing worldwide quoting activities for all Mechanisms and Structure quotes.
Manages, trains, and directs new business cost estimators and program team cost estimators.
Works with Product Engineering to modify designs to improve cost efficiency.
Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Manages reviews, approves, and is responsible for all cost estimates delegated by the Director of Cost & Pricing.
Identifies and initiates cost improvement activities in order to increase the company’s competitiveness.
Authorities as detailed in Standard Operating Procedure 8000.
Supports Internal / External Audit efforts regarding ISO 9001, IATF 16949 Certification for remote site location (Group Office).
Knowledge and Education
Bachelor’s Degree (or Bachelor’s equivalency) in accounting, finance, or engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in an automotive manufacturing/engineering related environment. Minimum 5 years of practical experience in product costing environment with an emphasis in metal and assembly processes.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully coordinate and complete multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines.
Strong communication skills: verbal, written and technical presentations.
Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. CAD, tooling, blank layout experience and low cost country experience preferred.
Normal amount of sitting, standing, and walking. Average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer, may require travel.
