Job Summary:

The Designer performs a variety of field and design tasks in support of infrastructure design for client companies. The Designer should have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in civil and/or electrical engineering environments and will rely on standards, instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. He/she will be expected to review, learn and apply industry/company/client policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.

The Designer is expected to be able to:

  • Execute work orders for fielding and/or design of infrastructure while meeting quality, time and budget constraints

  • Visually identify, inspect, and record equipment and structures in the field

  • Select and interpret data based on design intent

  • Apply engineering design standards to networks and infrastructure

  • Analyze, interpret and produce cost effective design solutions

  • Perform 2-D Civil type design utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD)

  • Resolve anticipated construction problems through designs

  • Coordinate and plan design and drafting projects

  • Collaborate with others, including co-workers and clients, as needed to devise best solutions

  • All other duties as assigned by a supervisor/manager

Requirements:

  • Education or Experience: Bachelor’s of Science in Civil/Electrical Engineering OR Associates Degree in a related field OR equivalent training in a related field OR equivalent experience in a related field

  • Must possess CAD Experience

  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions

  • Must be able to endure frequent: Driving, standing, walking long distances (up to 5 miles or more in a day), navigating rough terrain on foot and lifting/balancing objects that may weigh up to 20 lbs. and require the use of upper extremities and back muscles; work in proximity to moving vehicles in the right of way.

  • Must be able to endure frequent, lengthy periods of sedentary work

  • Must have the physical ability to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing notes, viewing a computer terminal, using measurement devices and identifying, inspecting, and recording facilities and structures

  • Must have dependable transportation and valid driver’s license and insurance

  • Must be able to pass a background check/drug test/driving record check

  • Must be computer literate – especially Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook

  • Must be willing to travel overnight regularly

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
