State of Michigan MDOT - Transportation Maintenance Worker 6/7/E8 (Temporary Non-Career) - Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron, Michigan
This is a temporary assignment that will begin on November 2, 2020 and will end on or before April 15, 2021
This position is responsible for performing winter maintenance activities on the Blue Water Bridge and its facilities. The work area is generally within a garage geographic area; however, work may be assigned anywhere within the Region. The incumbent must be skilled to operate equipment used in winter maintenance, front end loaders, and a large maintenance truck with an underbody blade. Employees in this classification are required to participate in the work element system and travel to assigned work areas. Employees must live within 60 minutes of the Blue Water Bridge Maintenance Garage.

Education typically acquired through completion of high school.
Transportation Maintenance Worker 6
No specific type or amount of experience is required.
Transportation Maintenance Worker 7
One year of experience equivalent to a Transportation Maintenance Worker 6 or Laborer E6 with experience in roadway, roadside, bridge, or sign maintenance, or pavement marking with the required MDOT work elements..
Transportation Maintenance Worker E8
Two years of experience equivalent to a Transportation Maintenance Worker, including one year equivalent to a Transportation Maintenance Worker 7; or, one year of skilled trades experience at the E9 level with required work elements.
Additional Requirements and Information
Satisfactory completion of the Department of Transportation Maintenance Work Element Training and Certification program required for the specific level.
Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A with N or X endorsements.
Must live within 60 minutes of the Blue Water Bridge Maintenance Garage.
Some positions may also be assigned duties that require the application of pesticides that may require certification or registration as a pesticide applicator in compliance with the Pesticide Control Act of 1976.
