At Tetra Tech, you will work with high-performing teams who are passionate about using their expertise to find solutions to complex problems in water, environment, infrastructure, resource management, energy, and international development.Tetra Tech invites you to consider a rewarding opportunity within our Portage, MI office as a Construction Manager.Responsibilities:Site Coordinationo Ensure contractor(s) fully understand their contractual obligations and project requirements.o Plan, schedule, coordinate and execute detailed phases of construction/remediation projects.o Liaise between contractor(s) and Project Director, Engineer of Record, Quality Control Officer, Site Safety Officer and Site Manager.o Effectively interface with site visitors (e.g., client, regulatory agency representatives, property owners, other stakeholders).o Identify slow progress, inadequate quality or performance, possible future construction problems and suggest possible solutions.Project Schedule and Cost Controlo Monitor project schedule and costs, update and report as project development proceeds. Take action, as required, to address issues in a proactive manner.o Confirm monthly contract progress payment documents, forecast and manage potential changes.Construction Monitoringo Provide field oversight and inspection for construction projects to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, construction standards, and safety standards.o Oversee and direct Tetra Tech field staff in the documentation of field activities in daily logs and communicate construction progress and testing results to others in a professional manner.o Monitor and inspect construction to confirm quality and that the constructed works are in conformance with the design.o Review and manage technical submittals (shop drawings, RFIs, RFCs and work plans) to confirm conformance with Contract Documents, design and quality of work.o Address issues that arise in a timely and cost-effective manner.o Document progress through daily and weekly reports (with detailed photos).o Lead weekly status update meetings.o Assist in preparation of environmental and engineering reports documenting construction activities.Product Procurement Completiono Monitor the receipt and inspection of major equipment/materials to ensure compliance with technical aspects and commercial terms of Contract Documents, facilitate responsibility transfers and acceptance.Requirements:Strong construction management background with at least 10 years of experience having managed environmental earthwork and/or landfill construction projects.Prefer an Engineer or appropriately recognized technical designation with a Bachelor's degree in related science or field.Familiarity with interpretation of engineering plans, soil testing and Autocad.Knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting or monitoring a plus.A candidate that has completed projects in West Michigan and is familiar with local subcontractors and suppliers is preferred.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Solid organizational and time management skills.Self-disciplined/motivated individual who also works well in a team environment.Existing OSHA HAZWOPER Training certification is a plus.About Tetra Tech:Tetra Tech is a leading provider of high-end consulting and engineering services for projects worldwide.
