Position OverviewThe hardscape Team Leader is an experienced team member in construction, basic electricity, basic plumbing, and works with minimal supervision. This position directs the activities of a team of two or more in the construction of custom brick pavers, segmented and natural stone retaining wall applications, natural stone, masonry, and outdoor lighting for the high-end residential and commercial market segments.Essential Responsibilities1. Install custom brick pavers, segmented and natural stone retaining walls, natural stone, masonry, outdoor lighting, and custom hardscape applications i.e. kitchens, fire pits, pizza ovens, pillars, seat walls etc.2. Read construction plans and implement the hardscape portion.3. Understands elevations and uses this knowledge to execute the construction plan.4. Operates and maintains, proficiently, a variety of mechanical equipment, including, but not limited to, skid loaders (with various attachments), tracked loaders, excavator, front-end loader, mechanical paver layer, paver carts, plate compactors, stone grinders, drills, gas and electric chop saws, chain saws, demolition hammers, and jackhammers.5. Operates automatic and stick shift vehicles, such as dump trucks and truck and trailer combinations.6. Routinely interacts with clients by way of introductions at the beginning of a job, answering questions, responding to client requests, making reasonable changes to the plan, and providing a walk-through at the job’s completion.7. Completes the necessary paperwork including daily job sheets, inventory slips, and directs the team to drop door hangers at adjacent properties on DSI’s residential projects.8. Plans and organizes the job, ensuring that sufficient resources and materials are available. This individual is responsible for meeting and/or exceeding our client’s expectations and for bringing the project in on time and on budget through proper management of both material and labor use.9. Manages a team of two or more team members, including, but not limited to, handling personnel issues on site and educating team members on policies and procedures.10. Assists the Field Operations Manager with performance evaluations for his/her team and makes recommendations for advancement and pay raises within the company.11. Maintains a clean and safe work environment, including worksite and equipment.12. Briefs Field Operations Manager and makes recommendations on job status, personnel issues, or client concerns.13. Maintains assigned equipment and notifies Field Operations Manager of needed repairs.14. Observes all project safety practices. Reports all injuries and occupationally related illnesses immediately to the Field Operations Manager.15.
